Teaching is something I have wanted to do my entire life. After college I forfeited that goal to grow and support a family. As that family matures it has opened a doorway for me to refocus on a teaching profession.
I am currently working through the alternative certification Iteach program and will finish it before the end of the school year. My ACT score has exempt me from the Praxis Core test and I am not required to take it. I recently completed the Praxis 5001 Multi Subject Elementary Education Test and have passed 3 of the 4 subjects. I will be retaking that subject soon with expectations of success.
While in this position I have worked with small groups of children in every subject and in every grade. I have spent a majority of my time in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade math classes, although I enter and assist in english daily. This school year I have taught small group math instruction to 3rd and 4th grade students that needed a little more attention. Daily I assist 5th grade students with their Zearn lessons as the teacher instructs her small groups. I also assist kindergarten with math groups and 2nd grade reading intervention daily.
I worked in this fabrication shop part time while I was a stay at home dad with my three children. When my children were old enough to attend school and I began working full time. At the shop I welded and fabricated parts for large PTO and electric drive water pumps. At times we would assist the customer with installation in the field.
