I was introduced into construction as a young teen with my uncle. The first time i finished an entire project my uncles boss approached me while i was admiring it and told me "you made that". The pride in work that instilled in me carries in everything i do. When i jumped into production and manufacturing it served me well starting out as an Operator. After learning the basics I wanted to know how it all worked but was told by my trainer " you don't have to worry about that" . I Figured being an Operator, it would benefit me to know how my machine worked. So i sought out those in maintenance who were happy to educate me.
I eventually started coming in on days off assisting in Repairs, RM, PM and troubleshooting. Meanwhile learning from Quality/Lab more in depth details of what they look for to so i may incorporate more detail into my operator inspection,to maintain their standards. while also using my knowledge in maintenance to identify and correct issues and ensure i have a smooth production run. i developed my own prep and pre shift inspection routines. Used operation process to organize task oriented tools so they work into smooth motion repetition. Wanted to train myself to be the best by combining my mechanical and technical understanding, building muscle memory with the organization of my station, and including it into my standard operating. This increased my performance speed, raised my production count to the highest average in the plant and minimized down time as well as broke. I gained a reputation as the best which sparked a kind of competitive nature in my peers. I started, giving advice, and teaching others around me, including my seniors. i enjoyed the moral boost it created, which lead to me becoming a trainer. Later helping the training coordinator and safety manager develop and improved training standard, as well as a more involved progress review process for sign off.
Taking initiative, learning more tasks and responsibilities, then accepting leadership roles, taught me about myself. It taught me I enjoy challenges, i have a inclination to understand how everything works, and how it all comes together. That carries over into my leadership, including how i train. I thrive under pressure, I take initiative and ownership of my own growth. When it comes to problems, whether it be mechanical, operational, or team. I I'm a firm believer that every problem, has a solution...and i enjoy the process of figuring it out. Helping make the work environment better for everyone. So when you get to the root cause of me...that's it, im someone who strives to make things better.
