In my role as a Youth Services Worker at the Northwest Regional Youth Center, I am responsible for providing active supervision and ensuring the safety and security of the youth in our care. My position requires strong decision-making, attention to detail, and critical thinking, all of which are essential in managing high-pressure situations. I have received verbal recognition from members of the executive team for my ability to make effective, timely decisions during crises. I am often selected to mentor new staff and have successfully trained six team members on daily operational procedures. Additionally, I lead daily treatment meetings where youth are encouraged to share their treatment progress with peers. In these sessions, I offer constructive feedback and support to help them reach their goals and foster meaningful, positive change in their lives.
Recognized for quick and effective decision-making in crisis situations, I provide direct supervision for up to thirteen youth at a time, facilitating group interaction through daily meetings and structured activities. I support youth in working through their evidence-based treatment assignments, guiding them throughout the treatment process and serving as an advocate for a total of twelve youth. My role includes preparing accurate documentation of daily activities, behavioral adjustments, and any critical incidents. Additionally, I maintain positive working relationships with staff, parents, outside agencies, and the youth in my care.
During the summer of 2022 I worked at Genesis as a camp counselor, I was the lead Counselor, worked well with parents and I have a strong work ethic by never missing a day of work. I could come in at least five minutes early when I would open. During the times that I would close I would make sure that everything is cleaned up and whipped down. Throughout my time at Genesis I developed my problem solving skills along with my interpersonal relationship that I made along the way.
