During the completion of my clinical hours I was responsible for a vast majority of tasks.
I was responsible for answering all call lights, getting vital signs when needed, assisting with getting out of bed, repositioning resident when needed to prevent bedsores, dressing, toileting, changing briefs, changing of bed sheets, draw sheets, bed protectors, assisted residents with getting out of bed and transferring to wheel chair, walker, etc. A few other responsibilities were assisting with eating when needed, delivering lunch, and communicating with the residents’ nurse when needed.
During all of my daily living needs I helped perform on or with residents I was also doing body checks, applying topical creams when needed due to bed sores, rashes, etc.
I would help chart residents care, vital signs, food and liquid intake, urine output, etc.
Cared for my mother, who had disabilities including rheumatoid arthritis and significant impairments from a stroke.
My mother was bed bound and was only able to get out of bed with a hoyer and being put into a wheelchair; she was basically paralyzed on her right side.
Some of my tasks included, bed baths, changing of her briefs, changing of her sheets, administered medications at the correct time, using a hoyer to get her in and out of bed, assisting with all daily living tasks, brushing teeth, hair, serving all meals and snacks.
I also assisted with oxygen tanks and concentrators; some of the tasks I assisted with were changing of oxygen tanks, and all tubing.
I also documented all changes and reported them directly to her healthcare providers.
Due to this caretaking, I do have a gap in my resume as I was my mother’s full-time caretaker along with my Dad.
I had a baby prematurely at 33 weeks. Documented daily activitiesuring his NICU stay I was very involved in all care plans, he did end up coming home on oxygen.
I was responsible for keeping track of his oxygen, changing his pulse OX sensor, changing all tubing, and oxygen tanks, monitoring the levels of oxygen tanks, ordering new oxygen tanks and oxygen equipment.
I was also responsible for weaning of getting him off the oxygen, and monitoring very closely of oxygen and heart rate, energy levels during the weaning process, and ensuring weight gain.
Due to having a baby I do have a gap in my resume, I was a stay at home mother. During my off time from work I did begin doing my nursing prerequisites.
I am currently completing my nursing prerequisites, I have currently completed Human Anatomy and Math, I am anticipating to have all of my prerequisites finished by Fall semester of 2027.
