Seafood Buyer Assistant/Beef, Pork,& Poultry Buyer

A&D Foods
Suwanee, GA
11.2012 - 08.2016

I started working as an assistant to the Seafood Buyers, helping monitoring seafood inventory. After that, I was prompted to the Beef, Pork, and Poultry Buyer. After doing that for a while, I started training people on how to use the system and what they were expected to do in their position.

At one point, I worked with the Inventory Department monitoring inventory levels and working with the warehouse to make sure inventory matched what was depicted in the system. Then they needed assistance in the Logistic Department. So I helped schedule pickups from the ports and tell them where to deliver the products. We had a couple of different warehouses where we store the products. So I had to get bids from logistic companies for the job and determine which was best for the company as far as time and money.

In Purchasing:

  • Managed pricing information and ensured accurate data entry into internal systems.
  • Negotiated contracts with vendors to ensure a steady supply of products.
  • Developed and maintained relationships with vendors, negotiating prices and terms of sale.
  • Monitored inventories for reordering levels, ensuring that sufficient stock is available at all times.
  • Analyzed sales reports to determine purchasing needs based on customer demand.
  • Created purchase orders for inventory items according to established procedures.
  • Collaborated with company managers regarding product pricing, promotions and markdowns.
