Girls Leap (LEAP Self-Defense)

Girls’ LEAP provides youth (ages 14-18) with meaningful part-time employment at our organization. During the academic school-year program, teen mentors cultivate self-defense, social-emotional, leadership and professional skills and apply them as assistant teachers & mentors in our LEAP programs, impacting ~300 youth in our community programs.
Teen Mentors are also provided with bi-weekly academic support, our Women of Color Speaker Series & weekly social justice workshops led by community leaders.
Teen Mentors develop leadership skills through formal workshops as well as responsibilities for teaching and leading projects, including our social media communications, participate in workshops on financial literacy, community issues, communications, and artistic expression.
