I have over 24 years of service with the State of Michigan/Department of Corrections, I have held a number of positions during that time. Corrections Officer 14 years, Corrections Program Coordinator 3+ years, Prisoner Counselor 4 years, Resident Unit Manager 2 years and Corrections Security Inspector 1 year.


I served 21 years in the Michigan Army National Guard. I was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq 2009-2010. Humanitarian mission El Salvador in 2013 involving building schools and bathrooms in existing schools.

  • Conducted regular patrols of key areas to spot and control security concerns.
  • Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Coordinator. I review all allegations of prisoner/staff sexual misconduct/harassment or staff overfamiliarity whether reported in writing or verbally. I assign investigators. Any allegations that appear to be criminal are referred to the Michigan State Police. If a non consensual sexual act is discovered within the last 96 hours, seals off location where it occurred, ensures physical evidence is preserved. The victim and abuser would not be permitted to shower, brush teeth or remove soiled clothing.

  • Assisted in development and implementation of policies, procedures, and regulations for unit operations.
  • Conducted Protection Investigations for prisoners that were either assaulted by other prisoners pr being harassed by other prisoners. I determine proper placement to keep them safe.
  • Determined placement for prisoners on the Re-Integration Wing. The Re-Integration Wing was utilized for long term segregated prisoners and prisoners that were fearful for their safety. Activities and movement within in the unit were limited and prisoners were monitored with a higher degree of security.

  • Violence Prevention Program (VPP) Facilitator. I instructed groups of prisoners in violence prevention. The program had two dosages, Medium and High. Medium consisted of 36 sessions and High was 72 sessions. Prisoners were instructed in Self-Management, Anger and Emotion Management, Problem Solving, Thinking That Supports Violence, Working Towards Goals, Communication Skills and Conflict Resolution. Prisoners worked to complete their Self Management Plans identifying triggers and strategies to overcome them.
  • I also instructed Thinking for a Change (T4C) which is similar to VPP. 26 Sessions
  • I also instructed Substance Abuse Phase I. 13 Sessions
