Summary

Worked for the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Corrections for almost 15 years, learned about professionalism and working in critical and confidential environments. Helped start the first in house treatment program in Indian Country Jails, currently working on a master's degree in Lakota Leadership and Development from Oglala Lakota College. As the Program Coordinator, I keep records of all inmate activities as well as inmate schedules. Complete weekly, monthly and fiscal year reports for the program. Helped facilitate the community service program which includes working with other agencies in providing assistance for their working needs.

In the present role as the Program Coordinator for the Department of Corrections, assist with inmate programming for the sentenced and committed inmate population, Worked closely with the Oglala Sioux Tribal Courts, Anpetu Luta Otipi Program, Victim Services and Behavioral Health with Indian Health Service, along with various outside agencies for Inmate Reintegration and Treatment Services. Also work closely with Church Groups and Organizations and with other Rehabilitation Programs and Services.

Responsible for transportation of Inmates being transferred to higher levels of care for addiction services, Supervise the Community Service Department and have one Community Service Officer that helps with the organization and community service projects on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

In addition to job duties, am also the Departments Prison Rape Elimination Act (P.R.E.A.) Investigator, teach Positive Indian Parenting classes to the Inmates that are required or requested in the OST Department of Corrections. Supervise and collaborate with the Oglala Lakota College-General Education Program (GED) to provide education services to those incarcerated.

Was a Corporal for the OST Department of Corrections, that assisted the Sergeant and very briefly was in temporary capacity as an Acting Lead Correctional Officer that supervised 6 to 8 correctional officers, completed day to day operations as well as following the Standard Operating Procedures and enforced the Rules and Regulations along with the Inmate Handbook to the Staff and Inmate Population.
