  • I work in a busy/quick turnover 18 bed capacity Medical-Surgical Unit that specializes in various specialties in surgery namely Colorectal, General Surgery, Vascular, Urology, Gynecology, ENT and Podiatry. At times the unit helps out in accommodating other specialties namely Orthopedic and Plastic Surgery. For Medical cases that comes to our unit to be admitted are mainly Gastrointestinal, Respiratory, Cardiology specifically Congestive Heart Failure/Fluid Overload, Vascular specifically Ischemia and Non Healing Wounds, Sepsis, Fluid and Electrolyte Imbalance to name a few cases we care and treat for.
  • Assumes responsibility for direction and coordination during my designated shift.
  • Functions as a resource person for staff member and assists in necessary education of individual members of nursing staff.
  • Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when I'm on duty.
  • Makes decisions regarding activities with these areas based on Administrative Operational, Nursing Administrative, Human Resource Standards and Standards of Care for the unit in collaboration with other members of the management team.
