I started my career with Walmart as a stocker in the automotives department and later moved to the automotives shop working on customers vehicles performing oil changes, replacing tires, fixing flats, replacing wiper blades and blown bulbs and servicing AC systems. And later worked my way up to become the Service Manager, and from there to the position of Assistant Manager over the Automotives Department having to ensure the proper inventory levels were maintained to ensure the availability of products both on the sales floor and automotive shop with the help of my Department Manager and Service Manager. Walmart later choose to expand out on duties of the Assistant Manager of the Automotives Department to incorporate other areas of responsibility in the store overseeing various areas ensuring the availability of products and services with the help of my Department Managers. My duties also included performing associate evaluations, associate schedules, and at times release and verify cash deposits due to be picked up, and deal with customer issues when necessary.
I started with the company as a production welder, working full time as welder assembling and welding tire racks of various designs for different companies {ie} such as Goodyear, BF Goodrich and others. While working here full time and at Walmart part time and managed to work my way into management to oversee the assembly of tire racks and the paint line where the products were painted and stacked to dry and had to oversee the loading of products onto trucks going out and the unloading of material coming in on second shift and had to verify and sign off on {BOL} Bills Of Lading. And due to the company having to downsize due to a lack of work in the department I was moved to another department overseeing the loading and unloading of raw materials of steel that the company sold. Before leaving the company for other opportunities at Walmart.
I performed a number of duties from stacking of finished products. I also ran mixer that mixed different doughs for a variety of Moon Pies and Granola Bars. before leaving for other opportunities .
I pre enlisted into the United States Army in January of 1976 and after graduating, fresh out of High School in May I was Marching in formation in June of 1976, completed my Basic Training and my {AIT} Advanced Individual Training for Tactical Wire Specialist and after completion of the course I spent a short period at Fort Bragg NC, and transferred to a base in Aschaffenburg Germany. Spent 2 years 6 months in country, and while there I had the fortune of attending the Seventh United States Army Noncommissioned Officer Academy and after completion of the course I was up for consideration of promotion to the rank of Sargent E-5 but decided to {ETS} Expiration Term Of service of active duty decided to come home where I served in the Army reserve for 3 years before being Honorably Discharged in June of 1982
