Although I only worked a total of two jobs professionally, I acquired countless new skills which have built me as a person. My very first job, Patriot Heights, taught me to be super quick and efficient from the very start. During rush hours, there was no time for slack. I had to push through the big rushes of running back and forth as well as potential upset customers. Tough customers taught me proper communication skills and learning how to deescalate altercations with them. Making customers happy resulted in making friends and gaining trust with them. Acquiring these traits allowed for an easier transition into John T. Floore's. Big rushes came naturally to me, and remaining calm and collected in high strung situations became an easier task to achieve. During my time at Floore's, always keeping a professional appearance and attitude was a big requirement, especially during concerts. Not only did I become experienced in customer service, I was able to perfect my wood working skills amongst many other hands-on skills. My favorite part about working at Floore's was being able to do something I truly enjoy which is fixing things. I plan on continuing my journey in enhancing my skills in all areas and becoming the best worker anyone has seen.
This job was a very fluid job in the sense of what I specialized in. I was mainly a door staff member that required me to assist customers in buying tickets, selling merch products, directing customers to their correct areas, as well as partaking in the security portion of my job. I acted as security by wanding customers as they came through to ensure no weapons were entering the premises.
The other half of my job was being a maintenance worker. I acquired many new skills and even perfecting skills I already had because of the projects I was assigned. Some projects include: building a deck, rebuilding a 15ft. long exit fence/gate, fixing toilets, repainting/staining fences, indoor walls, indoor performance stage, setting cinder block stairs outdoors, law maintenance, replace door and redid trim and lay heavy gravel. I was required to lift heavy objects across the venue such as picnic tables, propane heaters, merch boxes, walk through metal detectors, cinder blocks, and countless barricades. I was heavily relied on when things would breakdown or would suddenly stopped working. This job has taught me many lessons and i acquired many new skills that are listed below.
This job required me to prep food and deliver food as well. I would work 9-12 hours a day and 4-5 days out of the week. This job required me to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. I mainly was a server and took orders on top of serving food. In my downtime, I restocked products as well as bussed tables for the upcoming customers. This job certainly taught me to be patient and communicate effectively with customer dissatisfaction. Since this place was a retirement home and I served them everyday, I became well liked because of my will to satisfy their needs/wants and defusing situations between other customers and servers. Other skills I acquired are listed below.
