  • I started working with my dad at a young age in the garage at our house I worked on lawn equipment, trailers, trucks, etc I also gained experience using a welder to complete small projects on various vehicles at the house
  • During high school, I took almost every vocational class that was offered Auto mechanics was always my favorite class During this time I passed some ASE tests and gained multiple certificates I also earned a position to compete in Skills USA
  • I was recruited by Ohio Technical College where I later attended to earn my degree in Diesel Mechanics During this time, I worked an internship with Republic Services where I had to perform preventative maintenance inspections, hydraulic repairs on electric over air over hydraulic style system, we also would have to diagnose safety systems that were tied into hydraulics I also gained a lot of experience here with transmissions, engines, and suspension systems We were required to create our own hydraulic lines and got a lot of time welding parts on the garbage trucks
  • Once I graduated college, I got a job with Blacksburg Transit performing maintenance such as oil changes and system checks on the transit busses I learned how to work neatly, and efficiently when completing preventive maintenance inspections
  • I then received a job at WEL Corp in Roanoke I began as a mechanic working on all types of trucks including trucks with high rail systems that we had to keep operational and inspected I also performed maintenance on various vacuum trucks, dump trucks, and all types of excavation equipment I obtained my Class A CDL and got a lot of driving experience I used my CDL to haul oversized loads, the biggest machine I hauled was a Komatsu PC200 I drove multiple types of transmissions configurations including horse shoe patterns to an 18 speed transmission I also completed maintenance on those different types of transmissions
  • Working at WEL led me to starting my own business While owning this business, I maintained all mechanical work on various trucks, tractors, and lawn equipment I also learned a great deal about customer service and satisfaction
  • I am currently employed at Watsontown Trucking Company after accepting a position as a diesel mechanic Since being hired in October of 2022, I have obtained the status of second shift leader While I am in this role I am required to; communicate with drivers, collaborate with dispatchers on various issues with the trucks, and I also do a large majority of the transmission and engine work that is completed at our shop
