Research Interest

There is paucity of research, data and awareness about rare disease in my homeland Ghana. As a caregiver of a Person living with rare disease, i have first-hand experience of the challenges and frustrations involved. Currently there are opportunities to accelerate drug development for treatment of rare diseases in the advanced countries like United States. The use of pharmacogenetics to develop treatments using genome sequencing to identify the origins of such diseases are potential strategies being employed currently.

My primary research interest is in the discovery and development of drugs for treatment of rare diseases and how availability of genome data in third world countries  can further help understand the etiologies of these diseases.
