  • The psychiatry rotation was outpatient. I was in charge of vital signs and attended the therapy sessions when allowed by the patient. At the end of the day, we had a meeting and discussed any questions and our thoughts.
  • Internal Medicine and Family Medicine rotations were inpatient. I had the opportunity of rounding with the attendings. As a Spanish speaker, I would help translate for a non-English speaker. This was my first exposure to a progress note, history and physicals, and discharge summaries.

  • Caribbean Medical University serves each semester to the community of Curaçao. We proudly advocated for the health and education of the people by conducting mobile clinics. In these mobile clinics, we were responsible for taking blood pressure readings, monitoring weight, checking glucose levels, and lecturing about the importance of regular follow-ups with their physicians. As a class representative, I was in charge of organizing these mobile clinics, along with a group of students, as a part of the Student Government Association. This was a great opportunity to get involved with the health and well-being of the people, and to strengthen my leadership and interpersonal skills.
