My role within Animal Eye Specialty Center includes, anesthesia, animal handling, customer service and maintaining clinic cleanliness.

• Surgical roles involve drug calculations, recording controlled substances, placing IV catheters, induction, monitoring anesthesia, managing ventilator anesthetic machine, patient recovery and post-op care.
• Assist ophthalmologists with eye exams, procedures and treatments, collect and document thorough medical histories, practice safe animal handling with a “less is more” attitude to provide a fear free experience for each pet.
• Offer clients support with an in-depth understanding of care, procedures and medications provided, screening questions from current or perspective clients, and other veterinary staff, documenting communication logs.
• Maintain a clean workspace, which includes a surgical suite, prep and treatment area, exam rooms, reception area and guest bathroom.

• Administered vaccines and medications via appropriate route, collected samples for labs; experience interpreting in-house diagnostics (fecals, ear cytologies, urinalysis, etc.)
• Surgical responsibilities included pre-anesthetic assessment, IV catheter placement, anesthetic drug calculations, administration of anesthetics and ordered injectables, intubation, maintaining desired plane of anesthesia, monitoring anesthetized patients, alerting and supporting DVM with any change to status of patient, dental radiographs, prophylaxis, post-op recovery and extubation, record keeping and logging of controlled substances.
• Ability to function in fast paced environment to collect patient history, enter charges and medical notes, prepare supplies for visit and assist doctor with care.
