I am a dedicated Teacher with proven experience providing instruction, guidance, and counseling across diverse learning platforms. I possess a strong track record of improving test scores and providing diverse student bases with high-impact lessons. I have been a skilled team player adept at working with all levels of faculty, administrators and parents to resolve problems and conflicts professionally. Most importantly, I hope that each year I I have provided students the opportunity to grow as people, thinkers, and learners. I hope that they see value in the experiences they have had and can use the positive, personal qualities they have discovered about themselves in their futures.
I joined the staff at Poinciana STEM Elementary to start the 2003 - 2004 school year. For the first 6 years I was a proud member of the 2nd grade team. Next I moved to 4th grade and enjoyed that for 9 years. Last year I was asked to take over the 3-5 STEM Lab and I am loving the experience there.
In my role as Reading Coach at Forest Park, I trained with the District coaches and worked to bring Balanced Literacy y to our students and classrooms. I facilitated trainings, organized content and materials, and modeled lessons for classroom teachers to help them be independent facilitators of Balanced Literacy their classrooms.
Upon moving to Florida, I began teaching Kindergarten at Forest Park. It was an incredible experience working with amazing kids who were learning English as their second language. I then served as Reading Coach to the primary grades drawing from my Literacy background for several years before returning to the classroom in second grade - it was important for me to be back with the kids.
I began my teaching career 3 months prior to my actual graduation. I was fortunate enough to be recommended (and hired) to replace a retiring Kindergarten teacher. The school's principal was looking for someone coming directly from the student teaching program at my University in Louisiana.
