Being a rower for the past 5 years has instilled in me a strong work ethic, a drive to work efficiently, and an ability to work with many different people to achieve a goal. My experience working has taught me how to communicate with others coming from many backgrounds and my time as team captain of both my high school rowing and basketball teams has taught me how to be an effective leader to my peers. These positions have kept me accountable to always strive to do my best in my own endeavors.
I umpired many different age groups of baseball and softball players. For younger teams I helped coaches teach their players how to play the game while older teams I worked to professionally and fairly call every game. I had to work with many other umpires both more and less experienced than myself.
I refereed girls youth basketball games during their winter seasons. I had to work with many other referees to officiate games and had to effectively communicate rules with both coaches and players.
I volunteered every Monday after school in a kindergarten class. I often helped kids complete projects and also helped prepare for their next day of classes by printing or copying papers.
As part of the National Honors Society we led academic peer tutoring everyday during homeroom. I mainly tutored students in writing and English once a week.
