I am a mom of 4 older school aged kids and a 14 month old daughter. As my older kids are more independent and are doing their own thing, I am looking to nanny full time/long term for a family with (an)other young child(ren). I enjoy the dynamic and flow when caring for a few young kids together. I really love traditional daycare centers for the relationship and social benefits but feel the state ratio for childcare centers are too high and don't allow for enough quality attention for each child. I am looking to foster a happy, safe and stimulating environment for a few young children, who can grow and develop together. Ideally I would like to nanny for a family with one or 2 young children who would be happy to have the added social stimulation of my own daughter Aurora, joining us most days.
My first nanny experience was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The family and I communicated well and had very consistent education goals for their boys. I taught the twins how to write their own names and each others names by the time they were 3.5 and we potty trained and learned shapes and animals and colors and letters as well as kindness and compassion. I took the boys to their local parents as teachers every week and their regularly scheduled Dr. appointments/vaccines as well as swim lessons and play dates. The twins were almost 2 when I started with them and were ready to start preschool when I left.
In my first fulltime childcare position I gained valuable lifelong knowledge about different age groups, activities, expectations and overall skills required to care for a large group of children. I came to realize childcare was my calling and that I love working with kids full time. I found the blessing behind getting to nurture and teach young children not only ABC's, shapes, and colors, but also KINDNESS, and to SHARE and to BE a friend. Being a good human starts YOUNG and its a major privilege and honor to teach children self love, confidence, kindness, honesty, and integrity. I will forever be glad I chose this as a first job.
Monday-Friday I was responsible for caring for 10, 5th grade girls from the inner city, who came to camp for an outreach summer learning program. We worked on self confidence, team building, and trust building by doing adventure courses and activities as a team as well as independently.
