As a school counselor, I have a multidimensional job which includes teaching, developing curriculum in response to school climate, resolving peer conflicts, investigating disputes, writing state reports, responding to and developing a plan for any crisis that affects the student body which has included unexpected deaths of students, parents and teachers. Remaining flexible and maintaining high expectations while keeping the well-being of the students at the forefront of decisions has been a challenge I've happily balanced for over the last decade.
