As a school counselor, I have a multidimensional job which includes teaching, developing curriculum in response to school climate, resolving peer conflicts, investigating disputes, writing state reports, responding to and developing a plan for any crisis that affects the student body which has included unexpected deaths of students, parents and teachers. Remaining flexible and maintaining high expectations while keeping the well-being of the students at the forefront of decisions has been a challenge I've happily balanced for over the last decade.

Additionally:

Provides individual and group counseling using a variety of modalities to establish rapport, provide guidance as well as a safe, accepting environment.

Currently counseling 65 students weekly in small groups targeting Social Skills, Growth Mindset, Changing Families, Anxiety, Anger Management and Bereavement.

Coordinates school wide programs to achieve data driven results.

Implements school counseling curriculum aligned with ASCA standards with innovative and self designed lessons focused on teaching empathy, kindness and compassion.

Collaborates with colleagues to develop academic and PBIS based social support plans.

Deescalates crisis situations and is a member of Crisis Response Team.

Provides parents with behavior management strategies and academic support.

Acts as a liaison between school, home and the student.

Facilitates meetings and develops plans for 504, RTI/I&RS.

Highly skilled with documentation and compliance.
