Management of critical care patients including head and neck/flap surgery, orthopedic and trauma related surgery, vascular & emergency general surgery in a high acuity setting. Knowledge of and experience with titratable drips, such as those for sedation/paralytics, vasopressors and vasodilators, etc. knowledge and use of nurse driven protocols related to electrolyte and hemodynamic balance, bowel and bladder advancement, and delirium related issues.
Leadership role assisting in the management of trauma patient care in a high acuity level one trauma center. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to quickly and effectively identify patient diagnosis related to trauma and continuation of care Vast knowledge and experience with TNCC, ENPC, and ATLS guidelines for trauma care. Hands on experience with chest tubes, central and arterial lines, and other bedside procedures such as bedside tracheostomy and open chest. Knowledge and experience on massive transfusion and experience operating level one and Belmont rapid infusers.
Direct management of a 95 bed emergency department in a level two trauma center, coordinating the flow of patients within the department and out of the department. Collaboration with providers on needs within the department related to staffing, advocating for staff to nurse leadership using the appropriate escalation pathways within the hospital, and direct involvement in patient safety and experience while in the ED. Understanding each section of the emergency department and the requirements of staffing, equipment, and other resources needed in each area.
Certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, CPI, TNCC, and ENPC. Experience in rapid triage of acuity of multiple patients, effective management of care of patients spanning ages, past medical history, and chief complaint during a shift. Time management of multiple emergency and critical patients, collaboration with providers in identifying patient deterioration or improvement, and assisting with outside resources for safe patient disposition.
Vast experience with IV application, including use of vein finders and ultrasound guided IV insertion Experience with setting up and managing arterial and central venous lines Assistance with orthopedic procedures including reduction and splinting Experience with cardioversion and pacing patients Management of ostomies and Foley catheters Experience with wound vacs, and hands on experience with burn care, and nurse driven protocols related to wound healing and management
