She moved to Texas to pursue her professional career in the tech industry, and after doing so, she is ready to take the next step: expanding her innovative ideas and policy proposals that will benefit her district communities. With such a knowledgeable background, Nelson will promote policies that will help with investment and technological innovation. Nelson will have a leg up on her opponent in this area as she can use her connections in her field to help with technological advancements.
Incumbent Mike McCaul has held his House of Representatives position for 20 years now. Throughout his terms, McCaul has brought nothing but extremely conservative stances to various policies and issues. He holds a very low environmental score showing that his record of votes are against environmental protection. Socially, McCaul has voted against supporting LGBTQ+ rights as well as various immigration policies.
With that in mind, if Lauren gains the HOR position her policy agenda will focus mainly on Healthcare Access, Investing in Sustainable Energy and Technology Innovations, and Expanding Educational and Job Opportunities.
In order for healthcare to become more accessible and easily affordable in rural areas, Nelson will push to attain federal grants to fund healthcare services who are willing to expand to local communities, resulting in services receiving tax reductions. Additionally, to residents who do enroll in healthcare benefits will receive government subsidies and copayment setups for those who qualify.
Technology Innovation and Sustainable Energy is the future, there needs to be more investments to further develop these areas. We should not always rely on foreign oil and need to use more of domestic products, Texas being a major player in this industry. Fostering technology innovation will further enhance new job opportunities, economic growth, and various international and domestic challenges. Lastly, focusing more deeply on education and job opportunities. Looking out for our future generations, there needs to be a stable structure in education like investing more in STEM programs and small businesses, supporting our students and workers.
