  • Working in a thorough but timely manner- We have a quota to meet every day but we must also make sure our work is correct. For example, I have to make sure I am filing the interfiling piece into the right immigrant file. I do this by making sure the name and A# match what is in the file.
  • Multitasking
  • Confidentiality-I file papers and see personal information of the immigrants. I treat this information with the utmost discretion.
  • Accomplishments-I have exceeded quota every month since I started working. As a result of this, I get paid a premium bonus every month.

  • Handle every Covid-19 case
  • Contact parents by email or phone call if needed

  • Detail orientated-I had to be extremely detailed when writing reports. I included the time in which the student came in. I included the names of all parties involved. I included the details of the incident in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to remain calm- Multiple students were prone to seizures and asthma attacks. Thankfully, no student ever had a seizure but multiple students came in for their asthma. Students also had varying injuries that I had to treat and some of them were worse than others.
  • Communication in a clear manner- I would have to send students home sometimes and call their parents and communicate in a thorough way so they would know why I was sending their child home.
  • Patience-If a student reported that they had Covid-19, I would have to send them home regardless of whether they had Covid-19 or not. Several students took advantage of this and used it to get out of school. I had to follow policy so I had no other choice and I sent them home. Host/Server

BD's Mongolian Grill
Independence
09.2018 - 12.2020

I first started working at BD's as a host. I found this job to be extremely useful because I got to know the layout of the restaurant really well and I was the first person that the customers would usually communicate with which increased my social skills. After being a host for awhile, I finally got moved to server. I loved being a server as it gave me great skills and experience. I got to increase my attention to detail and again, I was able to increase my social skills because I got to talk to my tables everyday. Being a server also taught me how to work in a fast paced environment. If you weren't quick enough then your tables would become frustrated with you and I wanted to do everything I could to make sure that didn't happen. I wanted to do the best that I could do. This job was working really well for me in terms of enjoyment and money, however, the pandemic hit and then there just wasn't enough people coming into the restaurant and I wasn't able to pay my bills. I stuck around for a few more months hoping it would get a little better but it just wasn't enough so I started looking for another job.
