Burn and Reconstructive Unit

• Assesses and monitors patient condition during each shift, pre and post operatively, and report any changes in patient status.
• Administers prescribed medications and monitors patient for therapeutic response.
• Performs various types of bedside wound care as well applying wound vacs and removals of drains, staples, and sutures.
• Completes patient evaluation before procedures, reviews patient history and diagnostics tests, as well as physical and psychological assessments, and obtains and witnesses consent forms.
• Engages in evidence-based practices to enhance patient experience.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills and ensures patients, physicians, and colleagues have a clear understanding of all communications, and relays concerns appropriately.

• Obtained and recorded patient information, including vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and intake and output.
• Assisted with mobility by regular turning, positioning, and ambulating patient with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs.
• Obtained and assisted in collection of specimens for diagnostic tests.
• Assisted with wound care and dressing changes.
• Assisted patients with activities of daily living, including eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination.

• Prepared exam and treatment areas by cleaning and ensuring appropriate supplies were available for the visit.
• Escorted patients to exam areas, reviewed paperwork to ensure accuracy and completion, and prepared patients for their treatments.
• Obtained basic measurements such as blood pressure and heart rate.
• Supported chiropractors in performing treatments such as ultrasounds, hot and cold therapy, TENS therapy, stretching, mild fascia relief, and cervical and lumbar decompression.
• Educated and demonstrated injury preventative exercises to patients as instructed by chiropractors.
