Compassionate and organized occupational therapy doctoral student at the University of Southern California with clinical interests in pediatric therapy and neurological rehabilitation. Currently completing a Level I Mental Health fieldwork rotation at an inpatient mental health facility in Los Angeles, California.
Assisted occupational therapists in providing therapeutic interventions for patients in a skilled nursing facility, learned how to implement Section GG scoring, and collaborated with instructor on documentation. Worked with a variety of patients, including individuals rehabilitating after stroke, amputation, and severe contracture.
Developed and taught a class on stress management to six older adults; practiced giving cognitive, balance, and visual assessments to members; co-led an aerobic dance class to twenty older adults; and assisted management in scheduling classes for members.
Provided diabetes management nutrition education to East Los Angeles residents at a community health fair. Educated participants on how different types of macronutrients are processed in the body, how to read a nutrition label, and how to create meals that promote healthy blood sugar levels. Implemented motivational interviewing to evoke a "change mindset" within participants.
Shadowed pediatric occupational therapists, developed craft activities for pediatric patients that promote fine motor development and sensory integration, redesigned company website to reflect updated services, completed intake forms for new patients, and ensured that scheduling information was promptly and correctly entered into the database.
Developed and taught swim lessons, supervised cabin groups, and facilitated aquatics activities such as kayaking and paddle boarding for groups of forty children.
Student-taught five English lessons to a second-grade class and worked individually with students in the English Language Learners program four days a week for 6 months.
