  • Responsible for maintaining accurate, reliable results in timely fashion with minimal supervision, occasionally taking lead role,
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all analyzers as necessary,
  • Evaluating quality control and calibrations for analyzer function, reliability, and accuracy of results.

  • Manual microscopy for some peripheral smears, parasite analysis and fluid differentials.

  • Vista Chemistry analyzers and Sysmex AUWI with UF1000 microscopic reader.
  • Manual testing includes pH, Osmolality, Ionized Calcium and FFN,as well as manual urinalysis microscopic when indicated.
  • Prepare proper send out samples and storage.
  • Microbiology duties include gram stain reading and interpretation of flagged positive blood cultures, CSF, and other fluids.
  • PCR analysis using Verigene for blood cultures, Biofire Array for respiratory and spinal fluid testing, and Cepheid GeneExpert for stool, respiratory and nares testing.
  • Keep records of current competency in all areas as well as participate in CAP Survey analysis.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis of patient samples and generate detailed reports to inform medical staff of results.
  • Complete comprehensive diagnostic testing of blood, urine and other body fluids.
