As an ELL teacher for Belton Schools, my responsibilities included being the only ELL teacher for both Kentucky Trail Elementary and Mill Creek Upper Elementary. This included working with students from the Kindergarten level to the sixth grade level. The caseload mainly consisted of Spanish speaking students. This position includes the following professional duties: Observing and assessing student performance while keeping thorough records of progress, teaching children individually and in small groups to help them with difficult subjects, differentiated instruction according to student ability and skill level, taught lessons encompassing a range of skill-building activities for speaking, writing, reading and listening, and communicated effectively with educators from various grade levels.
Encouraged parents to take an active role in their child's education. Tutored children individually and in small groups to help them with difficult subjects. Created lesson plans in accordance with state curriculum and school-wide curriculum standards. Observed and assessed student performance and kept thorough records of progress. As a Special Education Paraprofessional, many responsibilities were carried while working in a classroom with emotionally disturbed students. A description of my experiences includes teaching students in various stages of cognitive, linguistic, social and emotional development, identifying early signs of emotional, developmental and health problems in students and following up with parents. Positive relationships with students, parents, fellow teachers and school administrators were established. Teaching included differentiated instruction according to student ability and skill level.
