Leah Barclay

As a nursing assistant at Concordia, I provide the residents with their direct needs. My responsibilities include promptly answering call bells, assisting residents to the bathroom, providing personal hygiene, bathing and dressing residents, changing linens, assisting with meals and passing trays in the dining room, helping with transferring needs and ambulation, communicating changes to the resident's nurse, and documenting. While providing care to residents, I ensure adequate care and maintain a safe environment.

As a bakery assistant, I was responsible for preparing and decorating baked goods, maintaining an organized kitchen, washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen at the end of every shift, and fulfilling customer's orders.

As a snack aide, my responsibilities included assisting residents with their evening meals, transporting residents to their rooms, assembling the snack cart to provide the residents with refreshments, and getting to know the residents throughout my shift. By visiting with the residents, my favorite part of the job was putting a smile on the resident's faces.
