  • Here in Lafayee Parish, I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade
  • Currently, I teach 6th grade English Language Arts
  • One group of students that I teach are the Bilingual students who take half of the class with me in English and the other half of instruction with the French teacher
  • The pacing of instruction is much quicker as the time that I am alloed to spend teaching the curriculum is much shorter
  • In addition, I also teach the Advanced students as well as the regular education students
  • In a nutshell, I have to differentiate my lessons to accommodate the various learning styles and levels of academic achievement
  • Incorporated the GuideBook program as mandated by the BESE Board from the Louisiana Department of Education
  • Adapt students to technology as Chromebooks are used for instruction and assessments
  • Aend and participate in professional development on a weekly basis to ensure that our English department is collaborating with each other
  • Plan lessons with my English Language Arts team on a weekly basis as well to discuss pacing of our lessons and planning of future lessons
  • Provide at home instruction via Zoom if necessary
  • Earned a VAM score of 4 (highest score possible) each year on observations and test scores

  • During this time period at Erath Middle School, I have taught fourth, fifth, sixth, and eighth grades
  • In addition, fourth grade science along with English Language Arts was my area of instruction prior to block scheduling
  • For six years, English Language Arts and reading intervention classes have been my primary focus
