Under the direction of the Psychiatric Social Work Manager and within an interdisciplinary team, the Psychiatric Social Worker performs professional social work service for psychiatric adult and geriatric inpatients. The Psychiatric Social Worker provides psychosocial assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, discharge planning, psychotherapy with patients/families, utilization review and coordinates all aspects of the court ordered evaluation process.
Provides crisis intervention, referral and resource information, and/or creates action plans for callers who contact the Childhelp National Abuse Hotline. Provides intervention support and resource information related, but not limited to: child abuse, sexual abuse/assault, neglect, family conflict, suicide, domestic violence, youth in conflict, life crisis, addiction and recovery
Provides short-term individual counseling and small group counseling to students (i.e., maintains professional documentation, facilitates referrals to appropriate agencies, responds to requests for counseling in a timely manner).
Provides direct social work assistance to children and their families (i.e. is available to meet with parents and school staff as to determine student/family needs, make contacts with appropriate agencies/resources to address needs, follows through with parents and/or agencies to ensure services received, maintains documentation of services provided for students/families).
Develops and structures prevention curriculum programs consistent with current school needs and best practices (i.e. Social Emotional Wellness, Bullying/Abuse Prevention, Drug Use Prevention).
Collaborates with teachers, administrators, staff, and community by providing support and assistance with social/behavioral management, home visits, truancy, and referral to community resources. (i.e., provides services as needed and requested, serves as a consultant role to school and administrative staff, is readily available to assist school staff members as requested).
Supervise a team of 20-30 family connection consultants, providing weekly supervision, group supervision and resolution of client barriers to participation
