Work History

Material Handler 3

Vishay Inc
Yankton, SD
05.1993 - Current

I help manage production workers' job duties and allocate the jobs to the proper workers. I work closely with my supervisor to create the shipping forecast for the month and to ensure that product ship dates and quality are met. I work daily with the engineering team and production control to ensure that material to build product is in place and orders are kitted for the production line. I also fill in some production roles when needed and sign off orders so they can go to the finished goods and shipping departments. I help ensure that safety protocols are adhered to and also that CUI requirements are upheld. I put in maintenance requests as needed and also perform small maintenance items.I help production workers with material and MES system questions and also work closely with the QC department to ensure orders get out on time. I order material from the raw material warehouse to fill current and upcoming production orders. I also worked closely with accounting to set up the order of processes and order of when material was consumed as well as the quantity consumed, when we started the new MES system. I received 6 weeks of training in MES so that we could understand it and also help the production workers learn how to use MES. I have been in this role since October of 2018.

From May of 1993 until October of 2018 I was an operator in the mold room, starting with the new Masterite Line when it was purchased. I operated transfer mold presses for a couple years and then moved into the set-up mold press position for the transfer mold presses. I also learned the operation of all the manual and automatic mold presses with all of the different types of material. I helped manage the timeline of when orders were set up in the presses and also helped ensure that the material needed for the mold processes was in place as well as checking the inventory and checking when material would be available. During this time I also filled in on the auto-loading machines that inserted contacts in the mold bodies. I sometimes filled in for the deflash room processes when personnel were on vacation or out for other reasons. I moved up to the set-up person for all the automatic mold presses and produced orders of any product that we molded including all transfer and injection mold presses that we had. I helped organize orders and then also allocated jobs to the various mold room operators. I trained many operators over the years to do the mold processes and also worked closely with engineering to troubleshoot mold issues. I started many of the new molds and helped create the mold process and parameters to make quality product on time. I worked with the former material handler to order material and check the progress of orders on the production line and in the mold room.
