  • Have represented Six (6) current DC 37 Locals: Local 436, the New York City Public Health Nurses and Epidemiologists; Local 2627, New York City Electronic data Processing Personnel; Local 299, New York CIty Parks Department and Health & Hospital Personnel; Local 1321, The Queens Public Library Guild; and Local 1482, The Brooklyn Public Library Guild; and Local 372, New York City Board of Education Employees
  • Has served as a contract advisor to all six of the DC 37 represented Locals
  • Routinely attend disciplinary hearings, arbitration hearings, and investigations on behalf of Local 372, Local 1321 and Local 1482, respectively
  • Make routine visits to Queens Public Library Branches, Brooklyn Public Library Branches, and New York City Department of Education facilities to update the membership on contract negotiations; benefit information; and union campaign initiatives

Drop the Rock Committee Member (DC 37)

The Drop the Rock campaign was a coalition of progressive organizations throughput the State of New York organizing and advocating for the repeal of the New York State Rockefeller Drug Laws. I was the assigned committee member representing DC 37 in the coalition.

  • Participated in the organization's grass roots campaign to repeal the Rockefeller Drug Laws and implement constructive reforms to parole and work release programs
  • Lobby and educate politicians and the public regarding the $220 million wasted by NY State annually on empty prison beds
  • Drafted a resolution in February 2011, which was introduced at the New York City Council regarding prison downsizing in New York State, Governor Como’s 2012 budget
  • Drafting of complex documents for the coalition as well as participation in campaign and lobbying strategy
  • Lobby in Albany and NYC for constructive reforms to parole and work release policies
  • Lobby and advocate for the reinvestment of government funding into in-prison rehabilitation and alternative prevention programs
  • Actively organize and lobby through education, and advocacy to decrease prison population numbers in NY State
  • Organized DC 37 members to participate in Drop th Rock Lobby Day
