Clinical Placement – Physiotherapy Student

• Supported a diverse caseload, including school-aged children, adults, high-performance rugby athletes, and elite basketball players
• Developed and refined clinical reasoning skills through close collaboration with supervisors and experienced physiotherapists
• Gained hands-on experience with manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilisations, soft tissue release, and movement-based assessments
• Provided individualised, exercise-based rehabilitation programs to support clients in achieving their functional and performance goals
• Strengthened critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills in a clinical environment
• Witnessed the meaningful impact physiotherapy has on improving quality of life, reinforcing my commitment to the profession

• Volunteering as the team physio this season, attending weekly trainings and games, and fully immersing myself in the club culture.
• Responsible for pre-game taping and guiding injury prevention through tailored warm-ups to keep the players fit and ready.
• It’s been rewarding to build strong relationships with the players and support them both on and off the field.
• Proud to have been part of the team’s journey as we clinched the championship this season — a true testament to everyone’s hard work and commitment.
• This role has deepened my passion for sports physiotherapy and the importance of teamwork, trust, and communication in helping athletes perform at their best.

Summer break between 3rd and 4th year of study

• Gained hands-on experience under the mentorship of a highly experienced physiotherapist.
• Supported patient care within student scope, contributing to assessments, treatment planning, and communication.
• I had the opportunity to work with NZ's olympic kayaking team, multiple UFC fighters, and many more elite athletes.
• Strengthened practical skills and bridged the gap between academic learning and clinical application.

• Worked as a Brand Ambassador for Spur during my 2nd and 3rd years of university, representing major brands including Spark, Coca-Cola, Under Armour, and Barista Bros.
• Engaged with customers in a wide range of promotional activities to drive product awareness and sales.
• Confidently approached the public to explain product features, answer questions, and encourage participation in interactive games and challenges.
• Developed strong communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to tailor messaging to suit different audiences and environments.

• As a volunteer, my first real taste of rugby physiotherapy, supporting the Massey High School 1st XV.
• Thrown in the deep end with pre-game strapping, taping, and sideline first aid.
• Felt nervous at first, but gained confidence each week through hands-on experience.
• Built great relationships with the players, who appreciated having a physio there to help keep them on the field.
• This experience taught me how to stay calm under pressure and trust my skills in a fast-paced sports environment

Summer Employment (University Holidays)

• Undertook physically demanding outdoor labour, often working 12–14 hour days in all weather conditions.
• Developed a strong work ethic, discipline, and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team of eight
• Progressed to Crew Lead, responsible for coordinating team operations and on-site problem-solving
• Gained experience managing high-pressure wedding setups, and working directly with clients to deliver their vision.
• Maintained a positive, team-oriented approach under pressure while meeting strict deadlines and client expectations.
