Petroleum Supply Specialist
Equipment Maintenance and Inspection
Directly responsible for the accountability, maintenance, and troubleshooting of four petroleum vehicles and other petroleum equipment with a value in excess of one million dollars.
Conduct monthly inventory and preventative maintenance of petroleum pumps and motors.
Visually inspect the condition of pipelines and equipment to ensure operations are within proper design parameters.
Check motors and pumps for adequate lubricant levels, leaks, cracks, cleanliness, proper system pressures, and malfunctions.
Execute proper valve switches and pump speeds to ensure correct petroleum product transfers as directed by the Platoon Leader.
Manage the inventory, storage, and shipping of bulk or packaged petroleum based products.
Preform before, during, and after operation inspections to ensure safety and proper working conditions of bag systems, storage tanks, and distribution equipment.
Inspect or test damaged equipment, and mark defective areas or advise platoon sergeant of repair needs and malfunctions.
Calibrate and maintain measurement equipment.
Operating Fueling Systems and Equipment
• Operate pumps, pipelines and tanker equipment.
• Operate airplane refueling systems and equipment.
• Preform petroleum sampling and testing to ensure product quality does not exceed Army regulated water parameters for aviation and ground vehicle refueling operations.
• Collect and submit monthly petroleum samples to laboratory for quality testing.
• Issue and dispense bulk fuels and water from storage tanks and distribution facilities to using units.
• Operate equipment used with petroleum and water distribution system and multiproduct pipeline systems.
• Operate five thousand gallon petroleum vehicle in support of refueling and distribution activities.
• Fuel and defuel vehicles, aircraft, and stationary equipment.
• Non commission officer in charge of tactical four point forward arming and refueling point operation. Safety distributed over five hundred thousand gallons of fuel.
Hazmat and Safety Operations
• Ensure compliance to safety procedures and keeping of efficient, clean, and safe work environment.
• Store hazardous materials in approved OSHA designated area.
• Monitor and maintain safe operating levels in storage tanks, bag systems, and petroleum vehicles.
• Perform safety and occupational health briefings to ensure safe work practices to eliminate the potential for injury of soldiers and myself.
• Ensure all product equipment, vehicles, and bag systems are in the proper spill containment berms.
• Properly ground and bond all petroleum equipment to conduct stray electrical voltage safely to the ground.
• Take emergency precautions to prevent harm to subordinates, self, and facilities in event of petroleum spillage or fire.
• Initiate and supervise environmental protection activities and contingency plans.
• Maintain proper security of working stations, vehicles, and equipment.
Accountability and Administrative
• Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
• Maintaining station records as required, preform daily/quarterly fuel reports to ensure proper accountability of petroleum products.
• Maintaining inventory and order supplies for daily operations.
• Upholding Army values while understanding and implementing company’s initiative
• Confer with chain of command to develop or implement company policies or SOP.
• Recognizing emergency situations and respond accordingly while working with little or no supervision.

• Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual soldier performance evaluations reviews.
