Clinical Nurse Manager – Acute Rehab Unit and Manager Rehab Services

  • Responsible for clinical oversight for the Acute Rehab Unit and the acute care and inpatient therapist team, which includes the following cost centers: Acute Rehab Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Mobility, Rehab Administration and Rehab Services General.
  • Responsibilities include ensuring daily operations are running smoothly with focus on patient safety and the patient experience, ensuring appropriate staffing in each cost center, daily review of productivity for each cost center with course correction when necessary, development of the budgets with the Finance department, program enhancement, quality assessment and improvement.
  • Active on several committees and teams, these include the Chair HF Warren and Madison Heights Fall Prevention Committee, Ascension Legacy Fall Prevention Committee, Workplace Violence Committee, Rehab Advisory and Education Committee.
  • July 1, 2015 Opened an 8-bed medical surgical unit within the Acute Rehab Unit, after decreasing the number of rehab beds. This unit required its own designated rooms, nurses, patient care technician and budget as co-mingling of Rehab patients is not permit per CMS guidelines. All the nurses and patient care technicians were cross trained so that they could work on both units. This unit was closed in December 2017 due to consolidation of the Rehab Services departments to one unit in preparation of a large construction project which was completed in 2019 .
  • Collaborative work with the Ascension Project Manager and various construction teams during the planning and construction of the 4 East Rehab Unit and Therapy areas.
  • Active participation, coaching and mentoring with the rehab interdisciplinary team to enhance communication and collaboration amongst each discipline thus leading to better coordination of care for the patient and an improved patient experience. The enhancement of the teams’ relationships has results in improved Model Community Survey Scores and Improved Nursing NDNQI survey results.
  • July 1, 2013 assumed direct management responsibility over all of Rehab Services at HF Warren and Madison Heights Campuses.
