  • Use independent judgement and discretion while developing complex schedules for drivers in training.
  • Create individual training schedules for approximately 30-40 drivers in training, while simultaneously monitoring and managing their progress through the various training stages, and adding new drivers-in-training as those completing training exit the training process.
  • Synchronizes driver-in-training class times and work availability with the work schedules and availability of five trainers and twenty instructors, ensuring that drivers receive a minimum of 80 -100 hours of training during out of service and in service training.
  • Create individual schedules that follow the core out-of-service training, which is necessary for safe vehicle operation, and the foundation for the required state CDL skills test to obtain legal licensing requirements.
  • Interface with state and third party systems to secure CDL skills testing appointments at the optimum time in each individual's training cycle, to include scheduling additional appointments when circumstances warrant.
  • Serve as the single point of contact with drivers regarding scheduling.
  • Develop processes and procedures to ensure consistency, fairness, and efficiency of the training schedule.
  • Responsible for ensuring the schedule applies to the policies that govern the unit as well as timelines established by DPS, related to the effective dates of the permit, license, and testing periods.

  • Responsible for developing schedules for ride checks, for drivers at certain intervals of employment between the driver and trainer/supervisors schedules, as well as refresher training during the summer for those in need.
