Community Through hope is a nonprofit organization center for unsheltered and senior citizens, to provide innovative, trauma-informed services that honor equity.

  • Assist the unsheltered clients who visit the center with provided services they need such as mail, hygiene kits, meals, pet food, diapers, canned food, and clothes.
  • Participate in Street Medicine, going out to the South Bay area where unsheltered people lived such as near freeways, streets, parks, and card giving Narcan and resource kit.
  • Manage and organize the warehouse.
  • Register clients for Project Refresh which is a program to provide showers and haircuts.
  • Consistently and currently volunteering in this organization.

Me And Korea

Me and Korea is an organization to create a bridge between the Korean community and international Korean adoptees, in the hopes of helping adoptees to answer their identity. Also, it helps adoptees to find birth parents and travel to South Korea.

  • Teach an online Korean language course to Korean adoptees,
  • Translate the birth parents' letters and edit a newspaper for Me & Korea's Mosaic Tour, which brings 25+ Korean adoptees back to Korea.

Eastlake high after-school tutoring program "Titan Tutoring" is for students who need extra help in their classes. I wanted to help students who were struggling in math in my peer tutoring class, so I asked my teacher to volunteer as an assistant

  • Collaborated with students to complete homework assignments, identify lagging skills, and correct weaknesses.
  • Motivated students towards learning and studying to build self-confidence and reduce fear of failure.
  • Supported students with helpful study habits and exam strategies.

The program was made by the Korean church where I went. It was offered to Korean American kids who had difficulties communicating with their Korean parents. To reduce the language barrier in the family every Saturday kids learn Korean for four hours.

  • Volunteer for Korean Saturday school as a teacher assistant.
  • Given four hours every time and helped a theatre teacher who had 5-8th grade kids with play performance at the end of the year.
  • Translated the Korean script to English and edited it into easier Korean vocab for kids to read and memorize.

Mama's Kitchen

Mama's Kitchen is a nonprofit organization for meal support to San Diego residents at risk of malnutrition due to critical illnesses such as HIV, cancer, congestive heart failure, type 2 diabetes, and chronic kidney disease.

  • Picked up all the meals in the center and received two to three pages of patients' addresses and personal information.
  • Drove to each patient's house and handed the meal bag to them. There are two types of meals with one labeled as a special and the other as normal. Special meals are for type 2 diabetes patients.

  • Helped to register people in the cars to record the statistics.
  • The largest serving was 10000 people.
  • Got an offer from the volunteer coordinator to participate in an organization promotion event festival, was able to interact with more than 60 people.
