Repair an maintain a fleet of heavy equipment including CAT and John Deere Loaders, John Deere and Volvo Excavators, Volvo and Komatsu Articulating Haul Trucks, Cat and John Deere Bulldozers, Cat Scrapers, John Deere Backhoes, Cat and Vogele Pavers as well as Cat, Hamm and Sakai Rollers. Repairs include hydraulic, electrical, engine, transmission and undercarriage.

I repair and maintain a fleet of drilling and earth moving equipment. Equipment includes Liebherr & IMT vertical drill rigs, Klemm & Davey-Kent tieback drills, Caterpillar & John Deere excavators, John Deere loaders, Scheltzke & Atlantic grout plants, Schwing & Reed concrete pumps and Link Belt & Manitowac cranes. Hydraulic and electrical diagnosis and repair are the most common repairs I perform. I have also spent time rebuilding undercarriages on our excavators. I also perform minor repairs on semi trucks such as brakes, wheel seals, airbags & shocks and lighting.

Mainly repair and service small tools including plate whackers, generators, pressure washers and power tools. Also assisted in maintaining supply/ tool room and towed generators and light plants around jobsite to assist crews. Spent time with head mechanic replacing quick coupler on Komatsu 228 excavator, locating and fixing hydraulic leaks on rail gear and servicing major generators on site. I am also currently enrolled in Bates Technical College for the apprenticeship program and have completed the welding module and am currently in the powertrains module.

I perform regular preventative maintenance to a wide range of heavy equipment. I also perform troubleshooting and repair to electrical, hydraulic, ignition & pneumatic systems as well as gas and diesel engines as drivetrains. I provide high quality control standards while maintaining high level of equipment readiness. I use hand and power tools to disassemble, repair and reassemble equipment.

My job as a shipfitter is not only structural ripout and fabrication but it also includes inspection of welds to ensure integrity. The ripout and fabrication portion of my job includes reading blueprints, flame straightening and bending, using port-a-powers to reshape material, layout, cutting out new material, fitting in place. We use pneumatic and electric grinders and drills, drill presses, rollers, shears, press brakes, bench grinders, plasma cutters, oxy fuel torches, hand tools, precision measurement tools.
