I am a dedicated and caring worker who has been committed to jobs with intense expectations and training. I hold my public and co-worker relationships in a high regard and I take the work I do seriously. I have worked in a variety of positions that have required me to be extremely focused, intensely trained, and continually working well in community with others.
I observed the water from a tower, made constant contact with the public to prevent water & medical emergencies and responded to water rescues & medical emergencies as an EMT when they did occur. I was trained on various lifesaving equipment like a jetski, rescue board, and rescue buoy, as well as a fire/rescue truck and ATV in order to most efficiently keep the public safe. I worked as a team with other lifeguards, assisted on medical aids, other rescues, scheduling breaks, cleaning the towers, upkeep of rescue equipment and vehicles, and managed training of new lifeguards. I also worked as a Junior Lifeguard Instructor where I had 2 groups of 25 kids aged 9-15 and I was the sole adult responsible for their ocean safety, education, health/wellness surrounding beach and water knowledge, and lifeguard training education. In both positions I handled all interactions with co-workers and parents/children/the beach-going public in a professional, informed, caring, and timely matter.
I worked to re-open the Kresge Natural Foods co-op after being closed from the Covid-19 pandemic. I worked as a team in cleaning the co-op space, organizing regular meetings, and working with finances in order to re-open. I organized artistic projects of printmaking my own art and community art onto fabric patches for the co-op and button making in order to raise money. I was a part of the a political sect of the co-op that worked on responding to current events on the co-op instagram, writing about politics on behalf of the community, anti-capitalist & queer centered co-op.
I worked in a team at this LGBTQIA+ and community centered garden. We composted, prepped soil for planting, worked in planting in raised beds and in the ground, and managed watering/irrigation systems.
I worked in a team to set up equipment for Junior Lifeguard training such as : kayaks, rescue boards, surf boards, boogie boards, rescue cans, tents, medical equipment, and vehicle maintenance. I was with various groups of 20+ children aged 7-17 and helped train them in lifeguarding, beach, ocean, and exercise, and teamwork knowledge. I was responsible for the water safety of multiple children at a time at all different swimming abilities.
