Summary

I work as a caregiver for the elderly and young children, with an emphasis on active, mindful, and compassionate care. Supporting and enhancing the quality of life of my clients, whether the be big or small, is a job I take both very seriously and to heart. I employ empathy, active listening, learning and tuning into the client's needs and concerns while focusing on their passions and interests. My goal is to provide an environment that is safe, comfortable, and personally enriching where their expression is fostered, highlighted and feels effortless.

Prioritizing my client's agency, autonomy, and safety is woven into the daily care I pride myself on delivering. Every human being, be they 2 months old or 80 years old, is a force and universe that is unique, and should be respected as such. That is a philosophy of treatment that permeates not only my work, but my life.

  • Ensured child safety through diligent supervision.
  • Applied positive behavior management techniques to enhance social interactions and emotional development.
  • Stayed with the tiny ones until they felt calm, happy, and sleepy enough to drift off to sleep comfortably. I did not leave them until they felt cared for and comforted, to the point that they did not associate their dark bedroom as a threat, but rather a place of safety and comfort.
  • Implemented creative problem-solving techniques to address challenges faced while caring for multiple children simultaneously.

  • Client was vegetative, unable to move about, eat, or even speak for the most part, but was fully aware and conscious of company and stimuli.
  • Provided companionship and emotional support by reading novels aloud, playing music she loved, speaking to her about current events, adjusting any adverse external stimuli (light from the hallway in her eyes, assessing when to get the nurse or doctor when she was in pain, closing the door when noise from the hallway became overwhelming, etc.)
  • Supported family members by offering respite care services, allowing them time for personal pursuits or relaxation.
  • Collaborated with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care for client, maintaining effective communication channels.
