Originally, I was an English learner. I came from Mexico and fell in love with the English language and the learning system in Healdsburg, CA. I have experienced what it means to be a student with learning disadvantages due to the language barrier and what it takes to overcome learning obstacles.
In my work experience, I am a strong believer in supporting student learning and helping students find their way to academic success. I am goal and task oriented, enjoy good communication with professional staff, parents, students. I have enjoyed being part of teams who worked daily to help improve students' potential and personal growth. Personally, I have overcome issues in health and have had to skip a few years in my work history. But, thanks to good health care; I want to continue with what I enjoy doing, and that is helping students achieve their potential.
As directed by the Resource Specialist, I provided one-on-one instruction to students of grades from preschool to twelfth grades in all subjects at their different locations. I maintained a log of daily lessons; I interpreted in English and Spanish at Individual Education Plan Meetings with the school staff, parents and student. I assisted the Psychologist in the lengthy interviews she did with the students' parents. Office duties consisted of calling the school districts to request student records, maintaining files, copying, faxing, and participating in staff meetings
