Impactful Experience

Leaving Cuba was not just a choice; it was a necessity. The healthcare system, limited in resources and opportunities, could not offer the future we envisioned as physicians. I emigrated first to Jamaica, then to the U.S., determined to revalidate my medical degree. Starting from zero in a new country, with a different language, culture, and network, was daunting. There were moments of uncertainty and fatigue, but also an unshakable determination to succeed. I turned those challenges into growth and resilience, qualities that will be invaluable as I navigate the demands of residency.
