• Manage all facets of library collection: selection, acquisition, processing, check-out, weeding, and inventory.
• Design and implement information literacy lessons so that students develop into lifelong learners, readers, and responsible digital citizens.
• Collaborate with teachers to enhance and support the curriculum.
• Instruct students and faculty in the use of print and nonprint resources, including online databases.
• Facilitate the Write-a-Book program.
• Coordinate annual book fairs to increase students’ interest in reading and generate additional funds for the library media center.

Part-time with Isaac Gourdine and Stephen Decatur Middle Schools

Library Media Specialist:

• Manage print and nonprint collections of the school library.
• Teach research, computer skills, and information literacy skills to students in PreK-6th grade.
• Assist teachers and students in finding, evaluating, and using information from both print and online resources.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support school-wide curriculum.
• Organize book fairs and other fundraising programs.

School Test Coordinator:

• Plan and administer county and statewide tests in the school building.
• Train staff to administer tests in accordance with Maryland State Department of Education guidelines.
• Interpret test result data and provide professional assistance in improving instruction based upon test results.
• Maintain accurate and complete records for each test administration.

• Provided reference services to congressional members and their staff.

• Serviced research inquiries and provided in-depth literature searches.
• Located requested books on shelves and in library database and fetched items for patrons.

• Developed and managed the library’s collections catering students in PreK-12.
• Offered reference service and book recommendations for students and teachers to improve access to high-quality learning materials.
• Designed and refreshed educational displays, featured books, and interactive materials.
