I have vast experience working with people in many capacities as a trauma counselor and a registered nurse. For over 35 years I have worked with many populations including geriatrics, adults, and adolescents. From January 2019-August 2023, I worked in a trauma program providing supportive counseling for children age 5- adulthood, along with coordinating the rape crisis hotline and medical advocacy programs. Starting in 2022, I began to work in virtual therapy for college students, providing mental health services to those who need them.
In my position as a trauma counselor, my primary job was to provide counseling services to children aged 5- adult that have been affected by domestic violence or substance abuse. I also provide treatment for ages 12 and older affected by sexual assault. I am always eager to learn new skills and techniques in which to help support the clients to a higher level of functioning and healing from their trauma. I have strong leadership skills and a high work ethic that supports the position I am in and the people that I am working with.
In addition, I was the rape crisis hotline coordinator. This job involves recruiting and training volunteers, creating monthly schedules for both the hotline and medical advocacy, working with other agencies that we collaborate with, and being on-call 24/7 as a supervisor to help both the volunteers and the staff with any concerns that may occur during their shift.
As a CNA I helped provide daily care to the residents of the nursing home. I was also a supervisor for the 11-7 shift and ensured that the residents were all cared for. After graduating as a RN I began working in this capacity and managed 30 residents and 4 CNA's while also passing medication, providing treatments, and ensuring a safe and clean environment.
