An RN that is part of the medical team who attend to patients with critical conditions. Including assisting physicians, attending to patients and providing support to patients family, monitoring life support equipment, administer IVs and other medications and observe vital signs and reactions to procedures. Other duties include ensuring proper function of feeding tubes, ventilators,

catheters, etc. and attending to patients overall needs such as feeding, bathing, grooming, dressing changes, medication intake and comfort. Providing support, education and answering questions for the family is a vital role as well.

Managed and coordinated work schedule for a staff of eight which included RN's and Nursing Aides

• Communicated with healthcare team members to plan, implement and enhance treatment strategies.
• Educated client and family to support wellness activities, self-care techniques and prevention strategies.
• Supported personal care needs, including shopping for groceries, providing meals, assist with ADLs, cleaning house and balancing accounts.
• Scheduled appointments and transported patient to medical appointments using personal transportation.
• Responsible for administration of prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders.
• Liaison to physicians, other medical services personnel and family.
• Fostered strong relationships with my client and family to support comprehensive social, mental and physical care.
• Coordinated with Hospice during end of life care.

CSA's mission was to provide telephone based health counseling and education for patients facing advancing illness. Responsibilities included:

• Offer service that was available through patients health insurance with the goal of improving quality of life and to reduce unnecessary hospitalizations.
• Assessing the appropriateness of the service for each individual patient based on the initial interview.
• Provided the Advanced Illness Coordinated Care (AICC) service to a smaller group of assigned clients.

Administered an initial survey to the patient or family members in the Medical ICU regarding their satisfaction with communication with physicians and nursing. Following that was the implementation of a nurse (other than the bedside nurse) to be available for questions, concerns, support, and obtaining appropriate consults as needed. At the time of discharge from the MICU, the same survey was administered to the patient or family to see if the nurse communicator had helped to increase satisfaction with communication during the patients stay.

Provided DNA testing of clients on federal probation.
