  • NCPD Explorer Program Academies

  • Completion of the New York Area Academy: Three weeks in the beginning of August, Explorers have the option to participate in the New York Area Academy, an academy that simulates what it’s like to be in the Police Academy. The first two weeks are from 8AM-3PM. Physical training commenced from 8AM-9:30AM every morning with little breaks in between. The rest of the day was more informational and drill based (marching). The last week of this academy took place in camp Keowa, upstate New York. Explorers were taken out of their comfort zones and pushed to their limits. No phones, no technology. This week was the most fun out of the 3. Physical training did not occur every morning, however was used as punishment if required.
  • Completion of the Nassau Academy: Team building based academy that tests your ability to work in a group and bond with others.
