Job overview

  • Determine donor suitability, according to interview results, vital signs, and medical history
  • Prepare specimens for analysis and establish proper chronological priorities in testing
  • Validate specimen and blood collection orders, alerting nurses or physician of discrepancies
  • Assemble tourniquet needles and blood collection devices to prepare work tray
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
  • Dispose of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies
  • Provide sample analysis results to physicians to assist diagnosis
  • Track specimen by initialing, dating, and noting the time of collection and document route of specimens
  • Perform office duties, such as answering telephones, completing insurance forms and updating EMS software
  • Quickly respond to and resolve all customer service issues in a timely manner
  • Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment
  • Adhere and implemented hospital safety protocols on sterilization procedures
  • Work in fast paced Emergency Department verifying patient information, collecting blood and urine samples
  • Maintain and controll central processing
  • Respond to Codes called on overhead and obtained STAT specimen.
