- Instruct patients correctly in specimen collection techniques to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety
- Determine donor suitability, according to interview results, vital signs, and medical history
- Prepare specimens for analysis and establish proper chronological priorities in testing
- Validate specimen and blood collection orders, alerting nurses or physician of discrepancies
- Assemble tourniquet needles and blood collection devices to prepare work tray
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
- Dispose of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies
- Provide sample analysis results to physicians to assist diagnosis
- Track specimen by initialing, dating, and noting the time of collection and document route of specimens
- Perform office duties, such as answering telephones, completing insurance forms and updating EMS software
- Quickly respond to and resolve all customer service issues in a timely manner
- Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment
- Adhere and implemented hospital safety protocols on sterilization procedures
- Work in fast paced Emergency Department verifying patient information, collecting blood and urine samples
- Maintain and controll central processing
- Respond to Codes called on overhead and obtained STAT specimen.
