Work History

Arizona STEM Acceleration Project Fellow

Arizona State Univeristy
08.2023 - 05.2024

As a participant in Arizona State University’s STEM Acceleration Project, I have engaged in professional development opportunities with Grand Canyon University, the Arizona Science Center, and the Arizona Science Teachers Association (ASTA) to deepen my understanding of integrating STEM concepts across all subject areas. Through these experiences, I have gained valuable knowledge and resources to create innovative, hands-on STEM lessons that enhance student learning and critical thinking. Additionally, I have contributed to the program by writing several lesson plans tailored to various grade levels, which have been published as resources for educators statewide. This opportunity has allowed me to collaborate with other STEM educators, refine my instructional practices, and inspire students to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in meaningful ways.

ASU Next Education Worksforce

Mesa Public Schools
08.2021 - Current

As a participant in Arizona State University’s Next Education Workforce initiative, I actively engage in regularly scheduled meetings to collaborate with colleagues across the district, sharing best practices and innovative teaching strategies. Within my 3rd-grade team, I work closely with fellow teachers to enhance lesson planning and student learning experiences, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in instruction. I also participate in vertical collaboration and teaming with the 2nd-grade team, aligning curriculum and instructional strategies to support student transitions between grade levels. Additionally, I help organize and lead professional development sessions for the entire staff, fostering continuous learning and growth within our school community. As a mentor to student teachers, I provide guidance, support, and hands-on experience to help prepare the next generation of educators for success in the classroom.

Junior Varsity Soccer Coach

Mesa Public Schools
09.2017 - 12.2019

As the women's high school soccer coach I was responsible for developing players' skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting sportsmanship while creating a competitive and supportive team environment. I designed and implement effective practice plans, focusing on technical skills, tactical strategies, and physical conditioning to prepare student athletes for game situations. As the head coach I was responsible for managing game-day logistics, including lineups, substitutions, and in-game adjustments to maximize team performance. Beyond the field, I mentored players, monitored academic progress, and instill discipline and leadership skills amongst my players. Additionally, I communicated and built relationships with parents, collaborated with school administrators, and ensured compliance with school and athletic association policies.

3rd Grade Teacher

Mesa Public Schools
07.2017 - Current

As a 3rd-grade teacher I am responsible for creating and implementing engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum and standards to support my students' academic growth in all subject areas. I also manage classroom behaviors using positive reinforcement, clear expectations, and a campus wide PBIS system to foster a respectful and productive learning environment. Additionally, I collaborate with colleagues in my same grade level as well as others to implement ASU's NEW teaming model. I communicate regularly with parents to build a supportive relationship between school and home. I regularly track student data in all subject areas to ensure individual needs are met. As a team leader, I also provide guidance to fellow teachers, coordinate grade-level activities, and contribute to school-wide initiatives to enhance student learning and success.

5th Grade Teacher

Baslz School District
07.2016 - 05.2017

As a 5th grade teacher I participated actively in professional development opportunities to stay current on educational trends and best practices in teaching 5th grade students. I regularly assessed student progress using formative and summative assessments. This data helped me to modify my instruction as needed for optimal learning outcomes. During my year at Balsz Elementary I developed strong rapport with students, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
