Recently, I served as the Director at the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) for five years, where I had the honor of supporting many medically fragile children in the Texas Panhandle. In this leadership role, I was responsible for overseeing the allocation of funds and managing the organization's budget. Drawing on my nursing background, I qualified families based on their children's diagnoses and need for assistance, thereby providing essential support to the CMN Board. I also engaged personally with new families served by CMN, and collaborated with leadership at various local and rural hospitals to secure grants for vital resources necessary for pediatric care. In partnership with CMN families, I organized and hosted multiple events aimed at raising awareness and funds for the network.
Prior, I worked at BSA in the role of Clinical Risk Management/Patient Safety. Here, I adopted a proactive stance, collaborating closely with nurses and hospital staff to reduce harm to patients and visitors. I conducted analyses of care quality and safety, ensuring our practices were evidence-based. My active participation in quality improvement initiatives and assisting with data reporting for hospital leadership were key aspects of my role. A significant focus was on interviewing staff and involved parties, working with legal council and preparing for depositions, leading root cause analysis, peer review processes, tracking and trending datas and reporting to appropriate agencies.
During my six years at BSA, I had the privilege of developing and teaching the BSA Customer Service Class for my colleagues. I also instructed segments of the nursing orientation for new hires, which was a rewarding experience that allowed me to engage and empower incoming staff. Additionally, I was involved in DVN Hospital Surveys, where I supported survivors upon their arrival and prepared nursing units for accreditation evaluations. My oversight at BSA included departments such as Pediatrics, Pediatric ICU, NICU, Women's Services, Cardiac Cath Lab, and the Operating Room.
