As a substitute teacher and homeschool educator, I have enjoyed watching many students develop their skills for learning, retaining, and applying what they have learned. I am skilled at working closely with students to maintain progression and maintain an environment where students are respectful of each other. I am committed to keeping up with lesson plans while keeping classrooms fun. Communication with parents will be a priority so they know what to expect from me while working together to support their child's education. Homeschooling 3 of my four children, 3rd through 10th grade, I am familiar with different learning styles. During that time, I did follow curriculums but also made activities for them, based on the need of the child. I believe taking time to add to the curriculum gave me experience in being creative and resourceful based on the requirements at the time. I know that not all students learn the same way and will need a variety of teaching methods. Audrey, one of my daughters requires an IEP. I have experience in helping build, maintain, and hold teachers to account for following the IEP and 504. I believe this experience will help me not only be sympathetic to parents but also understand the legal side of following the IEP for the student.
Upon graduating May 12, 2023, I will be ACSI Certified.
