Develop foundational counseling and interviewing skills, integrating academic knowledge into real-world clinical experiences.

• Gain hands-on exposure to quality, holistic, trauma-informed care, improving my ability to support individuals with PTSD, SUD, other SMI, and ASD.

• Build confidence in clinical abilities, including interviewing and assessment, case conceptualization, treatment planning, DAP notes, and collaboration with supervisors and interdisciplinary teams.

• Develop competence in individual and small-group counseling while clarifying my long-term professional goals.

• Observe and gain practical experience with evidence-based modalities such as EMDR and TF-CBT, laying the groundwork for post-licensure training in trauma therapy.

Community Service and Advocacy

Silent Tears 2013–2017

Co-founded an initiative dedicated to supporting victims of child sexual abuse and violence against women, providing funding for direct services, forensic training, and public awareness efforts.

SC Autism Stakeholders 2006–2021 

Advocated for early diagnosis and policy improvements, including lobbying SC State legislators for Ryan’s Law and the PDD waiver.

Greenville Hospital University Medical Center – Autism Wonders Program 2006–2012

Partnered with the hospital to develop a dedicated autism program, reducing wait times for diagnosis and intervention. Collaborated with Autism Speaks, the Autism Treatment Network, the University of SC, and MUSC to expand services and improve early intervention pathways.

Julie Valentine Trauma X Center 2010–2017 

Funded forensic interview training and supported a statewide study on best practices for handling suspected child abuse, led by Victor Vieth, Executive Director of the National Child Protection Training Center (NCPTC).
